Signs orginate from the Geissler tube. The Geissler tube was a glass cylinder used to show how electricity can be discharged.
In 1893 at a World Convention ,the earliest signs were unveiled by Nikola Tesla. Further development of signs was done by Georges Claude, with the first public display of a sign being in 1920 in Paris. The first known selling of a sign commercially occurred in 1912 to a Parisian barber shop.
